Such quality and attention to detail is extremely difficult to find today.
In Italy as in the rest of Europe linens have always been a treasure passed from generation to generation. They were, and still are, an important part of family life and culture. Several museum feature linens that age over one hundred year. The Catholic church has contributed in large part to the developments of precious linenFs. Nuns were experts in embroidering tablecloths for the Mass altar and for high prelates vests. In any family there is at least one formal tablecloth, that is used for the most important dinners: Christmas, Easter, engagements and marriages or as a token of respect and affection when some guest comes for dinner. Linen is the most precious of all the fabrics used in Europe. Flax has been cultivated since the Middle Age in order to obtain the linen fabric.
We are proud to use only the finest linen and cotton fabric for our original collections, each of them in line with the finest European tradition.
The embroideries on our Arts and Crafts collection represent gingko leaves, a design cherished by the artists at the beginning of this century. Such movement, inspired by the esthetic sentiments of William Morris, sought the beauty in everyday items that were also practical and simple. For the Arts and Craft movement each home accessory should be beautiful and simple. We tried to recreate such values in our collection.
The Filigree collection with its embroidered border is simple and elegant at the same time. The border is reminiscent of gold filigree bringing to your table a hint of subdued elegance. The Antica Firenze collection in line with the fine European linen tradition is linear and it create a style that fits equally well on formal tables and on the everyday family meal.
Timelessly classic and elegant in appearance, our fine linens also enjoy the added benefit of new technological discoveries: our Antica Firenze and Filigree collections are made from world-class pure European linen that has been treated with invisible Teflon technology, rendering a perfect marriage between traditional Italian craftsmanship and contemporary worry-free fabric care.
The Montebello collection is a triumph of embroidery that will splash joyful colors on your dinner table. Its floral design has been inspired by the Flemish masters of painting and will bring a touch of European taste to your home.
In keeping with Old World tradition, our linens are sure to be treasured for generations to come. |
