Handpainted Dinner Plates
Looking at these handpainted dishes I always think about the first time that I saw this fanciful bird design. It was in the house of a dear friend of my grand mother’s in Florence, Italy. The old man was an exceptional cook and that night he prepared pheasant and peas with mint. Although the pheasant was too adventurous for my then-childish tastes, I will never forget the peas or the little bird that emerged on the bottom of the plate as I made my way through them. You can imagine my surprise and delight to have encountered the original producer of these classic dishes on my most recent trip to Italy. I hope that they will bring enjoyment and perhaps a few smiles to your table as well.
